Idol Thoughts...

Well, V continues to gain points in my book after speaking out against the nastiness some of her staunch supporters seem so eager to dish out. She left a message in her forum (as she is known to do), and included this statement:

"Firstly, I know this is a forum where people can say exactly what they feel, however, I'd just like to make it known that it really isn't cool to read hectically nasty things written about other contestants... especially when it's written by someone who really supports me. Not that I'm asking ya'll to change, but it's just something I thought I'd put out there for you to think about."

While I doubt it will make much of a difference, it's a testament to her own professionalism that she decided to make her opinions known, and to make it clear that those fans who insist on denegrating V's competition aren't currying any favor with her by doing so. Well done.

And in further news, it looks like Deidre has decided to put school on the back burner in favor of pursuing her dream. While she's going to attempt finishing out Grade 11 (if she can study, study, study before end of year exams), Matric may have to wait while she capitalizes on the momentum that her Idols exposure has granted her. I have no doubt she will make an excellent go of it, and will not waste the fantastic opportunities that have started opening up for her. She states that she may finish her matric via correspondence, or go back to school in a year or two. As always, best of luck to her - I feel fairly certain that we will see much more of her in the future.
